CULTIVATED MEAT

Using advanced biology, we are cultivating beef, from ethically harvested cells, for delicious, nutritious, safe, and consistent end products.

1. TISSUE COLLECTION & CELL ISOLATION

a sample of tissue is ethically collected from an animal. This process is administered in the most humane way possible to minimize the animal’s discomfort.  After collection, the tissue is placed in culture, enabling the stem cells to migrate and grow outside the tissue.

3. CELL DIFFERENTIATION

Once the cells grown in the bioreactor reach the desired density, we can trigger them to develop distinct characteristics and functions per the media that engulf them.

2. CELL GROWTH

After the stem cells are collected, they are placed into a bioreactor. The bioreactor supports cell growth and proliferation by “mimicking” the conditions the cells would normally benefit from if they were to develop inside the animal. The cells grow inside a cell culture media, which is specifically formulated to include essential amino acids, vitamins, inorganic salts, glucose and proteins.

4. CELL HARVESTING

Once the cells have matured, they are ready to be used to create the meat products that we love.

Harvesting can be done during the biomass stage or after the cells differentiate.

PROCESS

From stem cells to food: the journey

  1. SH Blend – These raw nutrients are formulated from plant-based ingredients and serve as a platform for cultivated ingredients.

  2. 3D printing - The Blend is loaded into our 3D printer, which then prints a structured product with pinpoint precision based on a digital design in just a matter of minutes.

  3. Ready to cook (Structured end-products) - the unique 3D-printing process gives the product its unique texture.

The full process for hybrid end-products (products that include cultivated cells) involves cell harvesting and growth prior to the Blend formulation.
